Mike M - On your next oil change Mike, try this little experiment. Change your oil and filter and pour in 2 quarts of oil. No more, no less. Start your engine and let it run just long enough to ensure that everything is tight and you have no leaks from your 14mm drain plug or past the 'O' ring seal from your filter cover. Then---let it sit all night draining oil fluid down thru all the little nooks and crannies and small orifices the oil regularly flows thru. Then check the oil again the next morning. Wonder of wonders, I think that you will be amazed that the oil level is exactly in the center of the oil site glass window. In my humble opinion over filling the crankcase is the root cause of the infamous top end oil leak problem so prevalent on this site. Suck, squeeze, bang, blow that's what makes a thumper go but sucking and squeezing produce internal pressures inside the engine casing that have to go somewhere. When the internal air volume is displaced by oil overfill pressure equalizes by blowby. There, that's enough of my dribble for now -- boots off beer open!
